The key moment of the event was the first elimination sailed during Day 2 in very challenging conditions. Sylt’s infamous shorebreak struck on several occasions, but Arnon Dagan (RRD / NeilPryde) was one of the men to survive unscathed as he claimed the opening victory of the event.
Then it was a long wait for wind until Day 9 of competition. The wind starts blowing again and shortly after the freestyle double elimination was abandoned, the second Slalom elimination was resumed. However, the conditions soon deteriorated further and only another six heats were completed before the racing was also abandoned.
The final day of the 2014 DAVIDOFF Cool Water Sylt PWA Super Grand Slam saw the light winds return, meaning Arnon Dagan (RRD / NeilPryde), celebrated his maiden victory on the PWA Slalom World Tour after a nail biting week of waiting!
Julien Quentel steps for the second time in a row on the podium (this time on third stage), while Italian rider Andrea Rosati scores for the first time in his career a TOP 10 result with a great and well deserved 6th place! CONGRATULATIONS GIGOLINO!!!
PWA caught up with Arnon after his first win on tour:
PWA: How does it feel to earn your first event victory?
AD: “It feels amazing. It feels like all the hard work paid off. It doesn’t feel real yet because it was only one round. After this I feel like I have good momentum now after Turkey and here and hopefully I can continue like this. Anything can happen now.”
